Michelle Obama's DNC Speech

Hello! Hola! Bonjour! Welcome back to Abbi's Cozy Corner. Today we'll be talking about Mrs. Michelle Obama's DNC speech. I first want to start off by saying that Michelle Obama is my role my model. Her poise, her elegance, and her personality make her one of the few women that I look up to. Now let's dive into Michelle's speech.

In Michelle's speech, she used the rhetorical device pathos to appeal to the people. She spoke on events that have caused a lot of emotional feelings and emotional pain for the people of America. Besides the fact that I am a huge fan of Michelle, this is what held my attention; the emotion and the empathy for what me and many other people like me have been going through. Michelle also did something that Ivanka Trump did in her RNC speech: she humanized the politicians. Did it work? In my opinion, I think it did. Michelle was able to connect and grab the attention of the people relating to them. For example, when she said, "We have got to grab our comfortable shoes, put on our masks, pack a brown bag dinner and maybe breakfast too, because we've got to be willing to stand in line all night if we have to" (Obama, 2020), I couldn't help but laugh because she understands that voting can be a hassle.

I think that by empathizing and directly addressing and understanding that people like me are on edge and, let's be honest, going through it, Michelle's speech is able to evoke an emotion from me that I just didn't get from the RNC speeches.
