Fox News and the Notorious RBG

Hello! Hola! Bonjour! Welcome back to Abbi's Cozy Corner. Today we'll be talking about an online news article that Fox News wrote about the notorious RBG (Ruth Bader Ginsburg), Robert De Niro, and Trump. But before I get started, I'd like to pay my respects to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a true fighter for women and the American people. Now let's delve into it.

Earlier today, a writer at Fox news published an article titled "Robert De Niro calls Ruth Bader Ginsburg a 'great American,' labels Trump a 'criminal'". Without even reading the article, the title gives off this idea that Robert De Niro is trying to stir up trouble by comparing these two figures. And that is how the reader gets hooked. Well that is how I got hooked. I wanted to continue reading to find out: Did he really say that? Why would he pit RBG against Trump? What is the context?

Fox news used a technique that many online news articles are using right now: Sensationalism. As I continued reading to gain more context on why De Niro would bring up these two figures, I realized that his words had been taken out of the entire quote to create the headline. He had not compared and contrasted RBG. He had answered 2 spererate questions. I find that nowadays this is what all media is doing, especially when it comes to politics and leading up to this years election.

Next time on Abbi's Cozy Corner: An interesting video on the news media's coverage of Michelle Obama during her time as First Lady versus Melania Trump
